Creative Experience
Natalie Grace Tatum Creative Consulting
As the pandemic hit in 2020, I interned for Natalie Grace Tatum, a creative consulting startup. I executed social media management through organic content and running ads on both Instagram and Pinterest.
At the conclusion of my time with the agency, I established NavyBLEU, a modern online boutique, on Pinterest and Instagram by scheduling three to five pins per day over 60 days in advance.
By implementing these same tactics, my other primary client, Pretty Little Hustler Blog, grew from 900 to 1.7k followers. Both Pinterest pages experienced growth by implementing a posting schedule, pinning engagement-worthy organic content, and writing keyword-rich content descriptions (don’t show my news writing professor that Oxford Comma, please).
The following semester, I dove into campaign work for non-profit organizations. In a position for Kids Win Missouri (KWM), a children’s well-being policy advocacy group, my team designed a public-awareness campaign with the tagline “You are your child’s first advocate, let us be the second.” The campaign launched in 2021, and the organization saw a 13% increase in donations the following season.
My position as the Art Director for AdZou Student Advertising Agency expanded my passion for working with non-profits. My client, The Prison Journalism Project (PJP), is a non-profit news organization working to establish the first nationwide network of prison correspondents.
I created weekly presentation slide decks for a non-profit news organization, The Prison Journalism Project, in which I pitched big-idea logos, advertising executions, and an Instagram rebrand. Additionally, I designed an 80-page campaign plan book, which was nominated for a student journalism award and was runner-up for best AdZou plan book in 2022.
Using my background in government and political science, I joined the Missouri Student Environmental Change Coalition as the Policy Editor. The group petitioned for the expansion of renewable energy in Missouri after extensive research about the history and future of nuclear energy in the state.
As the Policy Editor, I drafted the coalition’s design analysis: an overview of Missouri’s relationship with green energy, the coalition’s policy goals, the tools used to achieve these goals, and the criteria used to measure the potential success of these policy tools. Furthermore, I wrote legislative testimony to advocate for the expansion of green energy within the state.
In the Spring of 2023, I was hired as a public relations consultant for an emerging restaurant concept, Cefalu Seaside Sicilian. I was tasked with generating local media buzz about the restaurant’s grand opening. In order to achieve my client’s goals, I prompted the owners to consider new taglines and branding approaches. Moreover, I wrote a press release that included details about the restaurant’s menu, venue, inspiration, and address. I distributed the press release to local news contacts, specifically, food reviewers and profile writers. The story was picked up by the Daily Herald.
